Easter Week Activities

3rd Apr 2020

Hello everyone!

Boys and girls - I miss you all so much and really can’t wait to see you all again, hopefully sooner rather than later!  I would love to see some photographs of you learning at home so please send them through!!

Parents - I wanted to share some ideas and activities to keep the children learning in a fun, Easter themed way next week.  Please take a break for the Easter holidays which were scheduled to begin with a half day on Thursday 9th April.

Some activities could include -

A lovely little science investigation is to make your own rainbow by making water walk.  It is very appropriate to the current situation we have found ourselves in.  You do not need a lot of materials for this investigation but it is beautiful to watch and the end result is spectacular 🌈 The instructions are on YouTube - in google, type in ‘How to grow a rainbow at home YouTube’ and look for a link by MEL Chemistry.  Please send me some photographs of your rainbows. Enjoy!

Write a letter to the Easter bunny - ask some questions - ideas could include where do you live, where do you keep the eggs, do you have any helpers, what do you like to eat?  Think of some questions of your own.  Remember the main parts of a letter - address, date, greeting, detail and ending.  Think back to when we wrote letters to Santa.

Design an egg - ask a grown up to draw a large oval shape on a page.  Then begin to design and decorate the egg in any way you like!  Perhaps you could draw patterns, or your favourite things, or beautiful spring designs?  It will be your own ideas so have fun with it!

Design and play a board game - think of an Easter themed game.  What is the aim of the game, what rules could there be and how do you play the game?  You can use the inside of a cereal box to make the board and cut out counters for your game.  Remember to send me some photographs!

Boil some eggs and decorate them - you could design them in your favourite colours, or make them into your favourite characters, or family members, or create your own characters!

Use your eggs outside and play egg and spoon games - how many times can you run around the garden without dropping the egg, try to balance the egg on different sized spoons, or think of your own games to play, too!

Egg carton egg cup - use an egg carton to design an egg cup- cut the egg carton into six parts and then design one of the parts. This can be used as your own personalised egg cup!

Map making - hide a toy in your house.  Make a map to show where the toy is hidden but don’t make it too easy!  A family member must use the map to find the toy.

The Hot/Cold game - again this involves hiding a toy.  Hide a toy in a room in your house and ask a family member to find it.  You can only give the clues ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ to help find the toy.  Hot means the person is close to the toy, cold means they are nowhere near the toy.  Good luck!

Draw a picture of the Easter Bunny - what does the Easter Bunny look like? Make your picture detailed and colourful.  Send me some photographs of your pictures!

Make an Easter card for your family.  Draw lovely, colourful Easter pictures on the front of your card and write a little message to your family inside.

A great website for maths games that are Easter related and also incorporate some of the learning you were doing over the last few weeks is www.primarygames.com.  Click on Easter and then you will see a whole range of games to play. My favourite is a time memory matching game - give it a try!  This website works on phones and tablets but it can have some ads, ask a grown up to help if you are unsure.

In religion, I would really like you to find out some information about Holy Week, in particular Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.  You could write a short summary of what happened on each of these days.  Send me some photos of your work!  Draw some pictures to illustrate your writing as well.

Boys and girls, enjoy your Easter break because you deserve it (and so do your parents)!  Don’t eat too many Easter eggs!!!

Sending big hugs to you all! ☺️
