Limestone experiment in p6/7
4th May 2023
As part of their 'Quarry' topic P6/7 carried out an experiment today using limestone, other rocks found up at the quarry site and vinegar. They saw how the calcium carbonate in the limestone reacted with the acid in the vinegar to 'fizz' and react together to create carbon dioxide.
The children noted how the limestone started to dissolve, while the other rocks which did not contain the calcium carbonate had no reaction with the vinegar. The children are enjoying the topic so far and looking forward to visiting the heritage hub next week to find out some more!
