P1 Maths Week activities and World Around Us investigations linked to The Three Little Pigs.
During Maths Week this week P1 have been busy gathering materials to make houses for The Three Little Pigs, putting numbers on their doors as we are focusing on number 1 & 2, touch counting how many bricks they have used to make their houses, used mathematical language associated with size including tall, taller and tallest and positional language for the pigs. (Infront, beside, above, under etc)
Children used their thinking skills to solve problem solving activities and to answer open ended questions.
We also linked it to our World Around Us as we tested which material was strongest and wouldn't be blown down by a big "Huff and puff" from the Big Bad Wolf.
