Primary Six 'The Science of Roald Dahl'
Primary Six have thoroughly enjoyed their topic 'The Science of Roald Dahl' which culminated today in a fantastic day at St Killians College. Inspired by the story of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', the class have created some fantastic colour patterns using Skittles and made gummy bears magically grow or shrink by putting them in different solutions. We then moved onto building spaghetti towers to support James's giant peach. Today's activities in St Killians were based on the story of 'George's Marvellous Medicine'. By making our own indicator using red cabbage, the children investigated acidic, alkaline and neutral liquids- maybe this is how George got all the wonderful colours in the medicine he made for Grandma! We made sparks fly, blew Grandma balloons up and even made chickens explode, all while developing our science skills and understanding. Today's grand finale was creating exploding rockets on the lawn of St Killians in the sunshine.
Well done to all of the children who have worked so hard throughout the topic and were a credit to themselves and their school today.
Enjoy the photographs and the short video clips.
