World Science Day- Super Scientists
Today we celebrated World Science Day right from Nursery all the way to Primary 7. Each class had a fantastic day exploring and experimenting- just like real scientists!
What did we get up to?
Nursery
Poor Incy Wincy was stuck in a drainpipe and Nursery had to work out how much water it took to flush him down! It took 4 cupfuls to release him! They then experimented how different objects could slide down pipes from different heights too. Next up we are going to find out how we could make a waterproof shelter for poor Incy!
P1/2
Primary 1 and 2 had science based play today focussing on toy cars. We explored the forces of push and pull and found ways of moving the cars using ramps, magnets, wind and various other devices. The boys and girls found ways of moving cars over water using boats to float them across, and we explored the materials used to make toy cars.
P3
Primary 3 experimented with colour finding out how to create a colour cartwheel with skittles! Next up they made raisins dance- ask them all about it!
P4
P4 investigated how to inflate a balloon using baking soda and vinegar. Although the children doubted that the two ingredients would inflate the balloon they were absolutely amazed by the results!
P5/6
P5/6 tested to see how the temperature of water affects the speed of dissolving.
P6/7
Primary 7 focused on floating and sinking in line with their titanic topic. The children chose the objects, discussed the materials that the objects were made from, made predictions, then tested them out.
We looked at the materials used to build the Titanic and compared.
Super Science across all classes- well done boys and girls!
