This week we carried out an investigation to see if all the preparation that animals put into hibernation is worth the fuss! The boys and girls tested 2 identical hot water bottles…they filled them both with boiled water and 1 of them had no cover, while the other hibernated…it had 3 layers of wrapping; 1 for body fat, 1 for fur and 1 for its cosy nest. We checked the temperature of both bottles after 2 hours and the hibernating bottle was almost double the temperature of the uncovered one! P1 and P2 tried to ensure it was a fair test and recorded their method and findings!
They've decided that they all would like to hibernate 😁
